China’s lithium carbonate price fell for 11th straight day to hit lowest in 4 months, futures dropped below 160,000 yuan mark to hit new low

The price of battery-grade lithium carbonate declined by 3,000 yuan per tonne to 180,000 yuan per tonne on Tuesday, marking a new low in more than four months and sliding for the 11th straight day, according to Shanghai Metals Market. 

The price fell by 11,000 yuan per tonne in the recent five days and by 73,000 yuan per tonne in the recent 30 days. 

The price of battery-grade lithium hydroxide fell by 2,000 yuan per tonne to 169,000 yuan per tonne, marking a new low in more than a year and sliding for the 47th consecutive day, showed the data. 

The price fell by 7,000 yuan per tonne in the recent five days and by 68,000 yuan per tonne in the recent 30 days.

China’s most-traded lithium carbonate futures contract on the Guangzhou Futures Exchange, for January 2024 delivery, slumped 5.65% to drop below 160,000 yuan per tonne mark and close at 159,400 yuan per tonne, marking the lowest level since its launch in July.
