China’s bulk commodity imports rose 17.1% on year in first half – customs administration

China’s imports of bulk commodities including energy, metal ore, grain, etc, increased by 17.1% in the first half of the year from the same period last year, said China’s customs administration.

In particular, imports of energy products including crude oil, natural gas and coal reached 561 million tonnes in the first half of the year, surging 33.2% from a year earlier; imports of metal ore such as steel, aluminium reached 710 million tonnes, rising by 8.3%, it said.

Imports of consumer goods reached 974.8 billion yuan in the first half, rising by 6.6% from a year earlier, it said.
