China’s car sales rose 10.1% on month in Jun, NEV sales surged 35.2% on year – industry association

China’s auto sales reached 2.62 million units in June, rising by 10.1% from the previous month and up 4.8% from a year earlier, according to the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers.

Auto production reached 2.56 million units, rising by 9.8% from the previous month and up 2.5% from a year earlier, showed the data. 

In the first half of the year, China’s auto sales reached 13.24 million units, rising by 9.8% from a year earlier, and auto production reached 13.25 million units, rising by 9.3%, said the association. 

China’s new energy vehicle sales reached 806,000 units in June and NEV output reached 784,000 units, rising by 35.2% and 32.8%, respectively, from a year earlier, with a market share of 30.7%, showed the data. 

In the first half of the year, NEV sales reached 3.75 million units and NEV production reached 3.79 million units, surging 44.1% and 42.4% from a year earlier, with a market share of 28.3%, according to the data.

The growth of China’s auto production and sales in the first half of the year slowed by 1.8 percentage points and 1.3 percentage points from the first five months of the year, due to the high base last year due to China’s move to cut purchase tax for traditional fuel vehicles, said the association.
