China’s consumer inflation ticked up slightly in June driven by rising food prices amid floods in southern China and a new wave of coronavirus infections in Beijing. The country's factory-gate deflation eased as the economy recovered further from coronavirus shutdowns.

The consumer price index (CPI), which measures the prices of a basket of consumer goods and services, rose 2.5 per cent year-on-year last month, up slightly from a 2.4 per cent gain in May and ending four consecutive months of decline, showed data released by the National Bureau of Statistics . . .
