China’s electricity consumption grew 3.9% on year in Jun, slowing sharply from May

China’s electricity consumption reached 775.1 billion kWh in June, rising by 3.9% from a year earlier, according to the National Energy Administration, marking a sharp slowdown from the 7.4% growth in May.

In breakdown, electricity consumption in the primary sector rose by 14% from a year earlier, slowing from the previous 16.9 growth%; that in the secondary sector rose by 2.3%, compared to previous 4.1% growth; and that in the tertiary sector rose by 10.1%, slowing from the previous 20.9%, showed the data. 

The household sector’s electricity consumption reached 110.8 billion kWh in June, rising by 2.2% from a year earlier, slowing significantly from the 8.2% growth in May, showed the data.

In the first half of the year, China’s electricity consumption rose by 5% year over year to 4.3 trillion kWh, with that in primary, secondary and tertiary sectors rose by 12.1%, 4.4% and 9.9%, respectively, while that in the household sector rising by 1.3%.
