China’s installed power capacity rose 11.5% on year in Jul, power generation investment surged 54.4% in Jan – Jul

China’s total installed power generation capacity stood at 2.74 billion kW at the end of July, rising by 11.5% from a year earlier, according to the National Energy Administration. 

In particular, installed capacity of solar power reached about 490 million kW, surging by 42.9% from a year earlier, and wind power reached about 390 million kW, rising by 14.3%, showed the data.

The average utilization hours of power generation equipment reached 2,079 hours in the first seven months, decreasing by 54 hours from a year earlier, said the NEA. 

In breakdown, the average utilization hours for hydro power equipment fell by 523 hours to 1,578 hours, solar power fell by 42 hours to 780 hours, wind power rose by 112 hours to 1,416 hours, nuclear power rose by 100 hours to 4,440 hours and coal-fired power increased by 96 hours to 2,573 hours.

China’s major power generation companies completed 401.3 billion yuan investment in the first seven months of the year, surging 54.4% from a year earlier, showed the data.

In particular, completed investment in solar power generation reached 161.2 billion yuan, jumping 108.7% year over year; nuclear power rose by 50.5% to 43.9 billion yuan, showed the data. 

Completed investment in power grid reached 247.3 billion yuan in the first seven months, an increase of 10.4% from a year ago, said the NEA.
