China’s learning tablet shipments reached about 1.03 million units in the second quarter, an increase of 36.6% from a year earlier, and about 2.2 million units in the first half of the year, rising by 37.2%, according to data from market research firm IDC.

Baidu’s Xiaodu G-series products, with affordable price and with Ernie AI modelling, has dominated the market in the 1,000 – 2,000 price range and helped Baidu stabilize the top spot in the overall learning tablet market.

Although the market share of students tablets of 10 – 11 inches remained dominant, the market share of products above 15 inches increased to 16.5% in the first half. Larger screens are the future development trend of student tablets, as parents are increasingly concerned about the learning tablet’s eye protection features, while performance and content continue to improve, causing major manufacturers to continue to develop large-screen learning tablets, it said.
