China’s mobile phone shipments rose 25.2% on year in May

Mobile phone shipments in China’s domestic market reached 26.04 million units in May, rising by 25.2% from a year earlier, according to data from the China Academy of Information and CommunicationsTechnology, a think tank under the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.

Of that, shipments of 5G smartphones reached 20.169 million units, rising by 13.7% from a year earlier, and accounting for 77.5% of the total mobile phone shipments, showed the data.

In the first five months of the year, domestic mobile phone shipments fell 0.7% on year to 108 million units, and shipments of 5G phones fell 1.4% to 84.97 million units, accounting 79% of the total, showed the data.
