China’s mobile phone shipments rose 9.2% on year in June

China’s mobile phone shipments reached 28.02 million units in June, rising 9.2% from the same period last year, according to data released by the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology, a think tank under the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.

Of that, shipments of 5G-enabled mobile phones reached 23.03 million units, an increase of 16.3% from a year ago, accounting for 82.2% of the total shipments during the period, showed the data.

In the first half of the year, China’s mobile phone shipments reached 136 million units, sliding 21.7% from the same period last year, and that included 109 million units of 5G-enabled mobile phones, sliding 14.5% from a year earlier, and accounting for 80.2% of the total, showed the data.
