China’s passenger car sales down 6% on year in Jun 1 – 18

China’s retail sales of passenger cars reached 828,000 units in Jun 1 – 18, falling by 6% from a year earlier and down 8% from the same period in May, according to data released by the China Passenger Car Association on Wednesday.

In the first five months of the year, retail sales of passenger cars reached 8.46 million units, rising by 3% from a year earlier, showed the data. 

Wholesales volume of passenger cars reached 883,000 units in May, down 1% year over year, but up 15% from the previous month. Wholesale volume in the first five months reached 9.71 million units, rising by 9% from a year earlier.

China’s retail sales of new energy vehicles reached 320,000 units during the 18-day period, rising by 1% from a year earlier and up 5% from the same period in May, said the association.

In the first five months, retail sales of new energy vehicles reached 2.74 million units, rising by 35% from a year earlier, showed the data.Â
