China recorded 752.8 million cross-region passenger trips during the three-day Qingming Festival holiday, with an average of 250.9 million per day, surging by 56.1% from a year earlier and up 20.9% from the same period in 2019, according to data released by the Ministry of Transport on Sunday.

In breakdown, railway passenger trips reached 49.74 million during the period, leaving an average of 16.58 million per day, surging 75.3% year over year and rising by 20.7% from the same period in 2019, showed the data. 

Road passenger trips reached 659.2 million, with an average of 231.7 million per day, rising by 55.1% from a year earlier and rising by 21.8% from the 2019-level.

Airway passenger trips reached 5.1 million during the period, with an average of 1.7 million, rising by 23.6% from a year earlier and up 1.7% from the 2019-level. 

Waterway passenger trips reached 2.8 million, with an average of 934,000 per day, surging 84.5% from a year earlier, but sliding 50.2% from the same period in 2019.
