China’s solar power related industries posted rapid growth in the first half of the year amid the country’s efforts to achieve its carbon-peaking and carbon-neutrality goals, with major parts of the industry chain posting year-on-year growth above 45%, said China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.

Output of polycrystalline silicon reached 365,000 tonnes in the first half of the year, surging 53.4% from a year earlier, and output of silicon wafer jumped 45.5% on year to 152.8 GW, according to the ministry.

Output of polycrystalline silicon solar cells reached about 135.5 GW, surging 46.6% from a year earlier, and output of olycrystalline silicon PV modules reached 123.6 GW, surging 54.1% from a year ago.

Overseas demand for solar power products remained robust, with module exports reaching 78.6 GW in the first half, jumping 74.3% from a year earlier and exports of photovoltaic product amounted to $25.9 billion, surging 113.1% from a year ago, said the ministry.
