Chinese Premier Li Qiang met with German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier, according to China’s state media.

China and Germany are credible and reliable partners on the road to modernization and in the 51 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations, the two nations have deepened dialogue and cooperation in the spirit of mutual respect and mutual benefit, built an all-round strategic partnership and jointly promoted the healthy and stable development of China-Europe relations, said Li.

China and Germany should work together more closely and China is willing to make joint efforts with Germany to promote the bilateral relations to a new level, better serve the development of both countries, and inject more positive energy and stability into the world, Li said.

Li kicked off on Sunday his five-day trip to Germany and France, which is Li’s first foreign trip since taking office in March as China’s new premier.
