Chinese airlines posted a record loss of 20.96 billion yuan in February after tens of thousands of flights were cancelled due to the coronavirus outbreak.
Passenger traffic plunged by 84.5 per cent last month from a year earlier to 8.34 million people while cargo volumes slumped 21 per cent to 297,000 tonnes, showed data released by the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) on Thursday.
Airlines' flight hours tumbled 70.5 per cent year-on-year to about 289,000 hours in February, showed the data.
