Chinese internet companies placed big orders for Nvidia GPUs, ByteDance’s orders exceeded $1 bn – report

Major Chinese Internet companies with cloud computing businesses have placed large orders with Nvidia after this year’s Chinese New Year, according to China’s tech news outlet LatePost. 

ByteDance, the Chinese owner of short video app TikTok, has ordered more than $1 billion worth of GPUs from Nvidia this year, and orders from another big company has exceeded 1 billion yuan, according to the report. 

ByteDance’s GPU orders this year alone may have approached Nvidia’s total orders of commercial GPUs in China last year, it said.
