Chinese Premier Li Qiang met with a delegation led by former House of Representatives Speaker Yohei Kono on Wednesday, according to China’s state media.

Li expressed concern over Japan’s new export controls on chip equipment could “disrupt the global economy” and said that China’s development will “benefit countries including Japan and not become a risk,” according to Japanese media Kyodo News.

China is determined to promote a high level of opening-up and will continue to support Japanese companies to expand investment and cooperation in China, Li said.

Li urged the Japanese Association for the Promotion of International Trade to continue to play a leading role in mutually beneficial cooperation and friendly exchanges between the two countries, and welcomed Japanese and Chinese localities to strengthen exchanges and cooperation in economic and humanistic fields.
