China’s technology hub of Shenzhen requires key industrial companies in the city to conduct closed-off management in a bid to contain the latest Covid-19 infections, according to a notice issued by the local authority.

The authority urged the top 100 industrial companies in the city, including Huawei Technologies, BYD Company and Foxconn, to close off the industry park for seven days from 24th and asked them to reduce unnecessary exits of staff and strictly control visitors, according to the notice. The latest official data showed that Shenzhen reported 21 new Covid cases for Sunday.

BYD Company said after the government notice that the company is strengthening epidemic controls in accordance with the authority’s requirements, adding that the latest round of Covid cases haven’t made major impact on its operations and production.

Notably, in March this year, BYD’s industrial park in Shenzhen conducted closed-off management for 7 days to contain Covid outbreaks.

BYD’s shares are sliding more than 2% in Shenzhen, and its Hong Kong-traded shares are falling by nearly 2%.
