Sichuan province imposes restrictions on some industrial companies’ electricity consumption amid heatwaves – industry insiders

Southwestern China’s Sichuan province has started a new round of restrictions on electricity consumption by silicon companies, according to the silicon branch of the China Nonferrous Metals Association. 

Sichuan province has a total of 97 GW of silicon production capacity, mainly in the city of Leshan and Yibin, and the latest restrictions affect 10% – 30% of the province’s silicon production, or about 1.4 GW, it said.

In addition, several cement producers in Sichuan have received notices from the authority, imposing production restriction during the period of July 5 – August 10, according to cement industry information platform ccement.com. 

Cement clinker producers are required to shut down kilns and reduce power load by 80% and some equipments such as cement grinding mill will be allowed to operate between 23:00 and 8:00 every day, according to the notice.
