The Hang Seng Index extends loss to 1.5% to drop below 17,000 for the first time since October 2011.
The Hang Seng China Enterprises Index is sliding 1.8% and the Hang Seng Tech Index is sliding 1.4%.
New World Development is slumping more than 7%, Ping An Insurance down more than 5% and China Life Insurance down more than 3%.
Chinese A-share market is closed for the National Day holiday and will reopen on Monday, October 10.
