China’s electricity consumption grew at slower pace in May

China’s electricity consumption reached 722.2 billion kilowatt-hours in May, rising by 7.4% from a year earlier, slowing from the 8.3% growth in April, according to data released by the National Energy Administration.

By industry, the primary industry’s electricity consumption reached 10.3 billion kWh, up 16.9% from a year earlier; the secondary industry 495.8 billion kWh, up 4.1%; the tertiary industry 128.5 billion kWh, up 20.9%, showed the data.

The household sector’s electricity consumption reached 87.6 billion kWh in May, up 8.2% year over year, according to the NEA.
