China is expected to record nearly 1.95 million air passengers during the summer holiday this year and the average daily passenger flight volume is expected to reach 16,500, largely in line with pre-pandemic levels, according to the Civil Aviation Administration of China.

The average domestic passenger flight volume is expected to reach 13,600 and average daily air passengers to r each 1.83 million, rising by 11% and 7% from pre-pandemic levels, it said.

China’s international passenger flight volume last week (June 5 – 11) reached 5,822 and the weekly figure is expected to increase to above 6,000 during the summer break this year, it said.

China’s civil aviation market continued its stable recovery in May, with the industry’s total transport turnover reaching 9.71 billion ton-kilometres, rising by 4.3% from the previous month and representing 90% of the level seen in the same period in 2019, said the administration.

The industry transported a total of 51.698 million passengers in May, rising by 2.8% from the previous month and representing about 94.8% of 2019-level, it said.
