China’s natural gas production grew 7.2% on year in May, gas imports accelerated

China’s natural gas output reached 19 billion cubic meters in May, rising by 7.2% from a year earlier, accelerating from the 7% growth in April, according to the National Bureau of Statistics.

China imported 10.64 million tonnes o natural gas in May, rising by 17.3% from a year earlier, picking up by 5.9 percentage points from April, showed the data.

In the first five months of the year, China’s natural gas output reached 97.3 million cubic meters, rising by 5.3% from a year earlier, and natural gas imports reached 46.29 million tonnes, rising by 3.3%, it said.
