The economic and trade cooperation between China and Japan should be fair, open, comprehensive and balanced and should not engage in selective cooperation, unilateral profit or letting other countries decide what can and cannot be done, said Chinese Ambassador to Japan Wu Jianghao.

The Japanese government has introduced chip export controls and although it claims the move doesn’t target specific countries, but the real target is very clear and China has expressed strong concern, he said. “If Japan insists on setting restrictions on Sino-Japanese chip cooperation, it will not only lose the huge market in China, but also hurt Japan’s own business reputation and the future of its chip industry.”

The US aims to re-establish semiconductor hegemony and if Japan goes down the path designed by the US, China and Japan will both lose and the US will be the only winner, he said, urging Japan to make rational decisions and work with China to jointly safeguard the win-win cooperation, keep open and smooth supply chain and work for common benefits of the two people.
